Also Known As:
A CBCT PNS (Paranasal Sinuses) scan is a specialized 3D imaging study that provides detailed visualization of sinus cavities, nasal passages, and adjacent facial structures. It is used to diagnose sinusitis, detect polyps, assess anatomical variations, evaluate nasal obstruction, and investigate chronic headaches or facial pain. ENT specialists and dental surgeons rely on CBCT PNS scans because they offer excellent bony detail with significantly lower radiation exposure compared to conventional CT scans. The test helps identify mucosal thickening, blockage of drainage pathways, deviated nasal septum, cysts, or infections within the sinus cavities. The scan process is quick and comfortable, requiring the patient to sit still while the machine rotates around the head. The extracted 3D images support accurate evaluation and treatment planning for sinus surgeries, dental implant placement near sinus areas, and pre-operative assessments. This makes CBCT PNS a reliable, efficient diagnostic tool for sinus-related conditions.
